The Military model black blade, 2% carbon for long-term edge retention and rust resistance and is laser cut with a 14mm Spyderco Round Hole for quick deployment and for use with gloves. A contoured black metal clip is set for right-hand tip-down clip.

A cornerstone in Spyderco's Save and Serve lineup, the C36GBK military lock-back knife stems from a question posed to Spyderco's owner, Sal Glesser: "If your son were going into the military, what folding knife would you send with him?" Glesser answered with a high-performing, lightweight folder designed for hard use. Because steel is the spirit of a good knife, Spyderco chose CPM-S30V steel for the blade given its reputation for long-term edge retention and rust resistance. The company shaped the blade to a modified clip-point design, coated it in non-reflective black, and laser cut it with a 14mm Spyderco round hole for quick deployment with or without gloves). And to improve control, the C36GBK features texturing above the hole for the thumb, which stays in contact with the blade's spine during cutting with the serrated edge.
The "Millie," as the C36GBK is known, also includes a G-10 handle with a locking liner nested (inlayed) directly into the scale, pumping up lock strength without adding bulky liners. Spacers between the handle scales create a gap that runs the handle's full length, exposing the inside workings for inspection and cleaning. Plus, the handle flares slightly at the front and butt ends. This keeps the knife from slipping forward or backward in the hand while you saw or make tough, aggressive cuts. The knife also includes a contoured black metal clip for right-hand, tip-down carry.
